She cultivated this passion working as an apprentice for USDF gold medalist, Anne McKay, gaining experience with a variety of horses, from green youngsters to advanced school-masters. In 1997, Janna had her first opportunity to spend a summer as a working student at the private stables of Hans Riegler, now first head trainer at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Through daily lessons with Herr Riegler on advanced school-masters and privately owned training projects, Janna gained firsthand experience in the classical principles of riding and training. She has since returned for several additional summers of training with Herr Riegler, and spent the entirety of 2005-06 in Vienna training with him on privately owned horses. For the last 10 years, Janna has provided dressage lessons and training in Vienna, New York, and now the Twin Cities. Lessons focus on the classical principles of riding: developing the correct seat and position for effective delivery of the aids, learning how to ride in harmony with the horse's natural movements, and applying aids clearly and correctly for the appropriate dressage figures and movements.
Janna is available for lessons on Sundays. Please e-mail for scheduling info. |
